ABOUT THE POSITION
This position is performed as a lay ecclesial minister in support of the diocese and the parish’s spiritual and pastoral mission. The parish manager has a major role in collaborating with and advising the pastor to ensure the smooth running of the parish, working to improve overall communications and processes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of the systems, structures, and teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the pastor, members of the finance and pastoral councils, parish staff and volunteers.
- Ability and desire to serve the public in a friendly and effective manner, including when there are barriers due to language.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational ability; able to manage parish day-to-day operations, vendors and projects.
- A self-starter, motivated, and energetic person who can take initiative in fulfilling tasks in a professional manner; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal effectiveness at all levels in the organization.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the capacity to inspire trust in people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Excellent leadership skills to help create a productive environment, where there is harmony, good morale, and cooperative teamwork.
- Ability to manage and conduct the business affairs of the parish in an ethical, efficient and professional manner in conjunction with the overall plans, policies and strategies developed by the pastor, committees and councils.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Effectively coordinate with clergy to ensure that parish services and events are properly planned and executed; coordinate with clergy and parishioners to ensure that all needs are met.
- Ability to document processes and perform recordkeeping.
- Ability to perform other tasks, projects, duties assigned or delegated by the pastor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recognize and support the mission, policies and practices of the Catholic Church and Diocese of Boise.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the parish including administrative/office and general maintenance duties.
- Attends to operational needs as they present themselves.
- Oversee facilities management to ensure the buildings are in good repair and are being used efficiently.
- Assures maintenance of parish facilities in the most presentable way and keeps track of operational needs including building keys and codes, vendor agreements, maintenance schedules, etc.
- Contact vendors and purchase supplies as needed (office supplies, lawn care, internet, etc.).
- Monitors the collection, counting, recording, and depositing of parish revenue from all sources.
- Assists the pastor, bookkeeper, and finance council in preparing documents, as requested.
- Oversees operation of parish office computer and duplicating equipment.
- Supervises or directs the maintaining of parish membership and sacramental records.
- Attends staff meetings and other committee meetings appropriate to the position; attends diocesan meetings where appropriate for training and development.
- Administers parish policies as directed by the pastor.
- Coordinates adult parishioners to support the community through donations of food, finance, service, and help with our special projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Demonstrable experience in positions related to operations and/or management with an excellent performance record.
- Education and/or training in business management, leadership, or other related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to delegate when appropriate.
- Ability to utilize technology relative to the requirements of this position.
- Bi-lingual desire and ability preferred.
