Parish Nurse Director

Position Overview:

Parish Nursing extends the healing mission of Jesus through prayer, education, health screenings, referral, advocacy, and counsel. Parish Nursing encompasses the Wellness and Balance of the Body, Mind and Spirit of the Congregation.

Key Duties and responsibilities:

• Volunteer Parish Nurse training, meetings, coordination, and submission of all Parish Nurse volunteer hours to St Alphonsus
• Monthly Network Meetings with Faith Community Nursing at St Alphonsus
• Quarterly Anointing Masses
• Honoring Choices-appointments for completion of Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care, Living Wills
• Bereavement Program-Letters to the Bereaved for one year
• Coordination with Hospice and Hospital Chaplains for Spiritual Care, Anointing, Last Rites requests- recording all anointings
• First Aid Stations at large events
• Coordination with Security Team, meetings, training
• Planning Your Wishes for End of Life-annually
• Completion, submission and follow up of Incident Reports with Catholic Mutual Group Insurance
• Adjunct to Boise State University Nursing School-(Seasonal)
• Flu Prevention Program- including RE, Parish Visitors, EMs and staff, portable sanitation stations
• Coordinate speakers to come in- Health & Wellness, Medicare Open Enrollment, etc
• Monthly Blood Pressure Screenings, follow ups
• Monthly Bulletin Board Health Information, resources
• Parish Nursing Bulletin announcements
• CPR/AED, First Aid classes
• Annual Mobile Mammogram Cancer Screenings
• Counseling resources
• Maintenance of AEDs, First Aid, Stop the Bleed kits
• Emergency phone numbers for Suicide, Domestic Violence, Abuse in Restrooms
• Publications and advertisements in the ICR
• Resource and referral for Health Care needs-ie Hospice, In-Home Care, Medical equipment
• Deaconate Training at Assisted Living Facilities and individual’s homes
• Health Consultations, referrals, counsel, resources
• Diocese required guidelines and documentation for Safe Environment of multiple ministries
• Ministries
