Pastoral Associate:
Director of Administrative Management,
Pastoral Life and Religious Formation

Our Lady of the Snows & St. Charles Borromeo parishes
Sun Valley/Wood River Valley

Together with the pastor, the Pastoral Associate has the responsibility of working collaboratively with the office staff in the manner consistent with the mission and vision of the parish and the views of the pastor. This ministry will include service to the entire Catholic Community in the Wood River Valley.

 

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

Qualifications and Skills:

• Strong ability to build faith-filled relationships with people.

• Excellence in oral and written communication, including public speaking and social media.

• Available to minister on nights and weekends.

• Self-starter who is comfortable taking the lead on projects, events, and ministry activities.

• Team player who can thrive within a team setting.

• Recruiting and organizational skills.

• Administrative and Pastoral experience preferred.

• Bilingual preferred.

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• Working knowledge of MS Office suite and Google Drive applications.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Area 1:   This position is a key collaborator with the pastor and other staff in developing and implementing the administrative management and parish pastoral life based on the pillars of:  Worship, Catechesis, Service, Social Events and Evangelization.

Focus #1 – Administrative Management and Pastoral Life

1. Provide on-site, day-to-day leadership and management to the office staff.

2. Be present to answer questions that come in via phone calls or visitors.

3. Oversee vendor management, when necessary.

4. Assist pastor in personnel management.

5. Work to develop and implement a parish pastoral plan.

6. Help manage and direct parish ministries, activities, and pastoral care of the parish.

Area 2:  In addition to the administrative and pastoral dimensions, this position will serve the following key areas of religious formation and catechesis:

Focus #2 Children and Family Formation

Focus #3 Adult Education

Focus #4 Community Engagement

 

Focus #2 – Children and Family Formation

1. Coordinate 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion sacramental preparation program.

2. Provide catechetical material and instruction and opportunities for learning for children and parents grades 4th through the 8th grade.

3. Oversee Children’s Liturgy of the Word for Sunday Masses.

4. Support those who coordinate youth ministry, as needed.

5. Supervise catechists and other ministers involved with faith formation.

6. Recruit and motivate volunteers for catechetical ministry, as needed.

7. Assist with sacramental preparation for infant baptism and marriage preparation.

8. Help create a family-child-youth centered parish environment.

9. Ensure diocesan “Circle of Grace” requirements are met.

10. Ensure all sacramental record keeping is up-to-date.

Focus #3 – Adult Education

1. Together with the pastor, provide and facilitate regular adult education opportunities.

2. With volunteers, develop a sacramental program for adults. (OCIA)

3. With volunteers, develop a “Returning Catholics” program to welcome back those who have been away from the Catholic community.

4. Provide liturgical minister training.

Focus #4 – Community Engagement

1. Assist and be present for regular parish gatherings such as coffee hour and wine & cheese after Mass.

2. Provide ongoing opportunities for dialogue and education to the wider community on Catholic Social Teaching and its implications regarding current issues of interest.

3. With volunteers, coordinate ministry to widowed and divorced Catholics including bereavement ministry.

4. With volunteers, assist the pastor in coordinating visits to those in the hospital and the homebound.

5. Explore meaningful ways to evangelize within the larger Wood River Community.

 

COMPENSATION

This position has a competitive salary and benefits depending on experience.
