The Principal assumes the pivotal role of both educational leader and administrative steward and leads the institution with a steadfast commitment to its Catholic faith-based mission. The Principal fosters a vibrant Catholic school culture and operational vitality and is responsible for supporting the Diocese of Boise in its mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment.
Priorities
● Grow enrollment with improvements to marketing, admissions and community relations
● Improve the school’s financial sustainability through philanthropy-based development and strategic financial planning and management
● Communicate with and support faculty and staff with encouragement, professional support, formal accountability, mentorship and clear direction
● Create operational vitality in all areas of school administration
● Lead strategic planning process and the development of a new plan
Duties
● Mission, Vision and Catholic Identity
○ Implement the Catholic mission and vision of the school
○ Build the school’s faith community through support of and participation in religious and service activities
○ Be strong spokesperson for the school and for Catholic education
● Leadership
○ Represent the school at various events and serve as a spokesperson and advocate for the school, its values, its mission, and the programs offered to further the mission
○ Manage and lead all staff and personnel including faculty and administration meetings
○ Observe, supervise, and help evaluate the faculty and provide on-going professional development and faith formation
○ Collaborate with the School Board to advance long range planning
○ Encourage and support the professional development and evaluation of the faculty, administrators, and staff
○ Foster a thriving school culture of virtue, excellence, faith, and service
○ Lead strategic planning in collaboration with the School Board
○ The principal may work outside of normal school operational hours as needed for special events, facility needs, and urgent issues that may arise.
● Operations and Advancement
○ Oversee and direct the financial resources of the school in coordination with the Superintendent, School Board and Business Manager
○ Create a culture of operational vitality and excellence and ensure the school is properly staffed
○ Direct and manage operational and advancement personnel
○ Develop the school budget and long range financial plans in collaboration with Business Manager and School Board
○ Work with staff and School Board to build an effective philanthropy-based development operation including a successful Annual Fund
● Academics and Student Growth
○ Oversee implementation of curriculum, pedagogy and teacher performance
○ Review and evaluate academic programs, ensuring compliance with educational standards, accreditation processes, while also monitoring trends in education and facilitating change where needed
○ Ensure proper processes, policies and responsibilities are implemented for managing student discipline, attendance, grades, and all school/academic operations
Desired Qualifications
● A faith-filled practicing Catholic who will embrace and promote the Catholic identity of the school
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
● Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred but not required
● The school administrator of a Catholic school will possess State Administrative Certification or, consistent with rules governing Idaho charter school administrators, have equivalent, documented leadership experience (33-5206).
● Someone willing to innovate and challenge the conventional education models
● A relational, collaborative servant-leader
● Adept at building and growing an organization/institution
● Proven skill in developing and motivating high-quality faculty and staff.
● Experience with all areas of school leadership including development, enrollment management, school finances, program development, and faculty and staff support.
