Modern Spiritual Warfare and its Biblical Roots

The St. John’s Cathedral Faith Formation Series presents “Modern Spiritual Warfare and its Biblical Roots” by Michael J. Morris, an assistant professor of theology at the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 6 p.m. at the St. John’s Cathedral Parish Hall.

The presentation addresses: “What do the Dead Sea Scrolls say about spiritual warfare? How does early Jewish demonology give us insight into Jesus's anti-demonic activity in the Gospels? Which aspects of biblical spiritual warfare are used today?” The 50-minute presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session. Morris earned an M.A. in Sacred Scripture from the Augustine Institute in Denver and completed his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies at Trinity College, Dublin. His dissertation, “Warding Off Evil” is published by Mohr Siebeck (2017). Michael’s main area of research is demonology and anti-demonic traditions in early Judaism and early Christianity
